Decades after Hurricane Hugo, we looked around and realized that while technology had advanced, the cumbersome, heavy, and unattractive storm shutters our neighbors were still fumbling with had not.

We knew there had to be a better way to protect our homes without sacrificing their architectural beauty.

Our search led us to high-performance, retractable, motorized storm screens—the absolute gold standard in modern defense, offering unmatched structural strength and effortless operation. Margaret Faust, Managing Partner:

Margaret’s career has always been driven by leadership and precision. Right out of college, her knack for operations and client relations was clear—she was promoted to Vice President of Customer Service within just two years. From there, she transitioned into the medical world as a nurse during the early days of cardiac electrophysiology, helping the field grow into an accepted branch of cardiology. During this time, she consulted with manufacturers on medical equipment design, participated in critical pharmaceutical research, and worked with the American Heart Association to make sure public defibrillators were user-friendly and reliable. Today, she brings that exact same focus on technical precision and quality control to every custom project at Charleston Shade & Shelter.

Outside of her professional life, Margaret has spent decades volunteering and leading community organizations. Born and raised in Nashville, she was an active leader in the Junior League of Nashville, serving as Chairman of the "Home Board"—which oversaw a multi-million dollar legacy trust supporting crippled children and funding the Junior League Home wing at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Her leadership eventually expanded globally; she served on the international board of her professional organization and founded its Associated Professionals division. Later, while living in Dallas, she connected with her community by sharing her love of music as a dedicated member of her church choir.

Now that she and her family have found their forever home in the Lowcountry, Margaret is deeply involved in protecting and enhancing her local community. She lives on Johns Island and actively serves her neighborhood as an elected member of both the HOA Board and the Architectural Review Board (ARB). While she isn't the one swinging the hammer, Margaret uses her background in executive service, clinical precision, and architectural oversight to hand-select, train, and manage elite installation crews—ensuring that every team on your property is competent, precise, and completely respectful of your home.
